My name is Rebecca Huff. This is my 16th year in public education. I currently live in Grapeland with my husband Steven. We have 4 amazing children and 5 awesome grandchildren. I obtained both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at The University of Texas at Tyler. I have served in several educational capacities including regular education, special education, RTI specialist, and administration. I look forward to working with your student to help him or her have a successful Jr. High experience.

At PJHS we strive to use a comprehensive, developmental guidance and counseling program. This is the program mandated by the State of Texas and recommended by ASCA.

Under the comprehensive, developmental guidance and counseling program “the counselor’s primary focus is to facilitate instruction by removing impediments to student learning. It is developmental by design and includes sequential activities organized and implemented by certified school counselors with the support of teachers, administrators, students, and parents” (Bauer, 2007).

The comprehensive, developmental guidance and counseling program has four components: guidance, responsive services, individual planning, and system support.

guidance curriculum to help students develop their full educational potential.

responsive services component to intervene on behalf of any student whose immediate personal concerns or problems put the student’s continued educational, career, personal, or social development at risk.

An individual planning system to guide a student as the student plans, monitors, and manages the student’s own educational, career, personal, and social development.

System support to support the efforts of teachers, staff, parents, and other members of the community in promoting the educational, career, personal, and social development of students.
